Equine Standing 3D CT Scanner Project
The American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation is accepting applications for internships involving education in the use of new 3D CT technology which is capable of detecting injuries in sport horses that are undetectable on x-ray. These subtle pathologies are often precursors to racing fatalities and permanent injury in sport horses. Veterinary students and veterinary technicians can apply for ACVSMR CT Diagnostic Imaging Internships which will cover the use and acquisition of CT scans in the standing horse. Veterinarians may apply for internships which will include acquisition of imaging studies as well as CT scan reading. A database will be created so that veterinarians from around the world can have access to examples of pathologies that are detectable using this new diagnostic imaging technology. Classes and seminars on this topic will also be offered for horsemen, veterinarians, farriers, veterinary students, and horse owners and trainers. Please contact the ACVSMR for dates and locations. If you would like to include a presentation of the Equine Standing 3D CT Scanner at your conference or meeting please contact Doctor Lyons through our website link.
