Doctor Lyons was honored with a nomination and as a finalist for Bayer's Legend of the Year Award in 2010 for contributions made through our ACVSMR internship programs that provide free veterinary care to hundreds of shelter horses worldwide and education to our students.

Doctor Lyons received the audience award for the best innovation to improve the sport of horseracing at the recent Global Symposium on Horseracing and Gaming which took place in December 2015 in Tuscon Arizona. This conference was sponsored by the University of Arizona's racetrack Industry Program. The $1,000 prize will be used to benefit our ACVSMR educational programs.
